Brighton Update (May 09)

After a long silence, here is another post on good ol’ Brighton featuring the usual suspects and some new faces. As always the NEQ boards are being hammered on a ridiculously regular basis. Heads from all over the globe continue to stop by and drop a line (Or two). In this post there is work from Gary & Aroe MSK, The Wildboys Crew from Italy, Ogre from Lyon, Glos and Sylo KGB. Also there are some witty posters I peeped while walking to the wall.

When all the ‘work’ subsides, a trip to Prague (Czech Republic) has been organised for the summer, so a massive update is awaiting there. However I will endeavor to have at least a couple more posts up on here before then. For now enjoy this selection and see the heavyweight burners that have been dropped in Brighton over the last couple of days.

Slovenia (July 08)

How ever much the guide books hype it up, Slovenia is a country most people have never heard of before. Therefore even I am confused as to why it was the destination for my summer holiday this year. As the following photos will prove, it was a stoke of fortune! In Slovenia, things are laid back and slow. You can walk on the tracks whenever and wherever you want. Everyone speaks English and beer is €1.50! Oh yeah, and the trains never get buffed. I was seeing panels from 2003 still running! The main station in the capitol (Ljubljana) was sea of colour where it was rare to see a train that was not painted. There was some really sick writers up on the trains with frequent appearances from Italian writers. To name but a few who stood out to me were ‘Files’, The ‘City Rats’ Crew and ‘Guns’ (Crew?). Files in particular had a legendary selection of panels ranging from a small production with some other writers to enormous whole cars. In all I took about 1000 photos just of graff and most of them were panels. I stayed in the Celica Hostel, which is a sweet place to go if ever in that neck of the woods. This post will be a two part section just due to the sheer number of photos!

Brighton Update (May 08)

Having finally once again experienced that English rarity called “sunshine”…the Disney-film-like predictability that is our weather system has once again come up trumps. Yes, the rain is back. While the sun was still shining however, I dashed outside to gather some new flicks to plaster the walls of this blog. Some of the content isn’t particularly new but damn its good. So…enjoy.

Aroe, always churning out the burners. this one was dedicated to ‘Frosty Freeze’, the breakdancer, who sadly passed away recently. I chose this detail shot for two reasons, the line perfection on and around the ‘a’ and because the outline on that letter is pure sex.

Italy 2008

Continuing the report on my trip to Italy. Obviously, steel was not the only defacing that I got to see. I was particularly impressed in Bologna at the amount of street bombing, particularly where it was most in-your-face for example in the more touristy areas. I noted some writers and crews who were really putting the work in. (The TL’s, The BB’s, Broda and Mesta). Other than that there was plenty of tags and throws that I had recognized from my previous venture to Milan. There were appearances from Fransy, QSMD, Siko, Twesh and Humen. As expected, there were plenty of nice handstyles (Italian style) and an array of in your face tracksides. On that point, Florence was certainly the city with the most destroyed tracksides. A video camera would have been more appropriate as I had to just keep flicking my camera and later looked to see what I had captured. Visual feast!

Italy 2008!

I jetted off to Italy for a short and sweet holiday this february. Considering the fact that Italy is alot closer to the equator than the UK, it was surprising to find it much colder than here at home. I sampled the delights of the Trenitalia FS train network and visited Turin, Bologna and Florence all in three days. Needless to say, there was lots to see as the following photos will prove. Despite the icelandic temperatures and being pickpocketed by a pikey, it was a fantastic holiday.

Brighton Update (2008)

Cant resist a wander around town when the weather is nice and I already know theres something waiting for me and my camera. Aroe, Odisy and Jiroe (Heavy Artillery) have been surpassing the highest of expectations in terms of human limitation with a daily supply of burners recently. They’ve been hitting alot of new spots which means I cant get pictures but these beauty’s below were at New England Quarter. Also some other flicks I took that day…
